Bones By Mikayla

Collarbones stick out of your body. It comes from the ribs to the shoulders. Another word for it is clavicle.

The lower jawbone is really the only bone we can move. Skulls are made of 22 different bones. Is that weird or what? It has 14 bones to make-up the face. Wow I only thought it was 9. The cranium is the hard part of the bone that protects the brain. That's a lot of pratection. The teeth are a spongy bone that make-up the jaw. Bones grow before you are born. They are soft and rubbery. It is named cartilage. I thought that they were the bone, but I'm wrong.

Some animals don't have the same bones as us. They don't have backbones either. Instead they have are invertebrates.

Feet have 52 of the 206 bones in your body. That's more than all of the bones in your hand. Feet bones are longer than the hand bones. The feet are shaped so that you would be balanced and wone't fall. The feet are flexible and can bend as you walk because they have so many bones, helping us walk on all kinds of surfaces.

Muscles give us strength so we can pick up things. With no muscles we can't go nowhere fast. Muscles also give us the power to move and give us strength.

Our joints move backward and forward. Joints bend aand swivel. They move side to side and rotate.

Bones are held in places at the joint with stretchy LIGAMENTS. People can bend and twist their body like pretzels because their ligaments are extra long and strecthy. If you weigh fifty pounds only about ten of those pounds are in your bones. Your bones are so light that your skeleton is less than one fifth of a persons total body weight.
